Who We Are
50 years ago, several former Whiffenpoofs and some of Yale's finest female singers realized they were missing something. They wanted to sing great music, and they wanted to sing it together. So, they founded Redhot & Blue, Yale's oldest all-gender a cappella group. Craving complex music, they turned to the jazz of Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong. Ever since, Redhot has brought together Yale’s best to make the blues swing and jazz sing.
Our Sound
Redhot's sound is timeless, founded in the jazz tradition of the early 20th century. We always look back on jazz's greatest pioneers, but today our repertoire features a wide variety of artists, from Frank Sinatra to Fleetwood Mac. Our critically acclaimed studio albums showcase our ability to consistently reinvent our sound while never losing the edge that sets us apart. Our members come from all musical backgrounds and levels of experience, and our arrangements feature everything from soaring solos to intricate quartets.
Join Us
Bringing these complex harmonies around the globe, we tour three times a year, with expenses covered so every member can afford to see the world with us. Last year those tours included performances at 54 Below in NYC, Baker's Keyboard Lounge in Detroit, and the U.S. Consulate in Lagos. This year: California, Texas, and Greece. Having released 15 albums, we are soon to release our 50th-anniversary album and look forward to releasing an album every other year. But above all, Redhot is a family.
